Mrs. Cronin's Math Class - Week of 4/22-27
Hi everyone, so sorry I am not there for you this week, but I have confidence in everything you know and what you can achieve. This week, the biggest challenge is not the content, it is going to be taking responsibility for learning on your own. You DO know this stuff, you are just going to be applying what you know in new ways. Keep an open mind, stay focused and positive, and I KNOW you can do it. I'll be following your progress online and you WILL have a test on Thursday. If you are struggling or have questions, review the material I've provided to you and if you still don't get it, feel free to reach out to Mr. Deeble or Ms. Osten - they will help you out!
Monday
This video gives a quick example of how to translate word problems into inequalities. http://www.moomoomath.com/translating-words-into-inequalities-and-graphs.html
Take what you've learned and do a few practice problems: https://braingenie.ck12.org/skills/105462
Once you feel comfortable, try this: http://www.mathquickeasy.com/translating_mathematical_phrases_into_equationsin.html
This is super basic, but it is important foundational work you need to be able to do. Once you have finished this, you can do the worksheet Ms. Curtis has. This should have be completed before the end of class. If not, it is homework.
Tuesday
Overview of one step inequalities: https://www.onlinemath4all.com/writing-and-solving-one-step-inequalities.html
Here is a great example problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCKJkKBLYdQ
For homework, you need to complete the two lessons assigned to them in Pearson Realize – 9.1 Homework G and 9.2 Homework G. you should aim to get 90% or better on your homework assignments. You have a quiz on Thursday - make sure you understand what you are doing! Just FYI, I will be recording your scores on the homework as a class participation grade.
Wednesday
Start with this: http://www.algebra-class.com/solving-word-problems-in-algebra.html It is a really nice written overview of how you should attack two step inequalities.
Once you’ve finished reading, you can move to this video which will show you again how to write and solve two step inequalities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVu-MkIewF8
Like before, you are going to do their homework online. you can log into their pearson realize accounts and complete 9.3 Solving 2 step equations. Remember, if you are having trouble - ask for help!

Middle School Math - Week of 9/25 - 9/29
Every student has 3 - 5 multiplication facts to study. Approximately every other week, the students will take a multiplication fact test. After the test, they will determine which facts are giving them trouble and make a notecard with those facts on them. They should be studying those facts 3 - 4 times a week for a couple minutes. Because it is only 3 - 5 facts, even only studying for 2 minutes would allow them to study those facts 10 times each.
PARENTS - You can help by quizzing them on these facts. Thanks for your help and support.
